Our Stop-Motion Movie: “Stop, Think, and Do

During our extension project, my group and I created a stop-motion movie about the theme “Stop, Think, and Do.” The team included Catherine, Emzjull, and me. We worked together to plan, photograph, and edit the film, and we’re really happy with how it turned out.We divided the work so that each person was responsible for their own scene. The movie has three parts:In the first scene, I’m at the school gate. It looks like I’m about to jump over it to leave school, but I stop, think, and do the right thing instead.The next part features Emzjull on the playground. She’s about to throw some bark at me but, like in my scene, she stops, thinks, and does the right thing instead.The final scene is Catherine, who is about to kick a ball under Te Kapua. She also stops, thinks, and does the right thing, kicking the ball on the field instead.To make the movie more engaging, we added a fun song to play in the background. We all had a great time collaborating on this project, and if we get another chance, we would definitely make another movie.Thank you for watching our movie! Film Festival Making

Story boarding:

For our film festival we had to find out what “Parody and Mockery” meant. We had to use our own words to think of the definition of these 2 words. After researching about what these words meant we got into groups of 4 or 5 and picked one scene out of the song. My group included Emzjull, Catherine, Jordyn, and Me! Our group split up the scence into to two so we would have more scences. Jordyn and Emzjull storyboarded a netball court and how they are in love with playing netball. Me and Catherine sotryboard a bucket of KFC and how Catherine would put the bucket in the middle I would have to grab a pecs and take a HUGE bite.

Acting:

Jordyn and Emzjull finished recording their scences last week, Catherine and I finished recording today. Mrs Burton gave us the idea of instead of me taking a bite out of the chicken I would turn into the chicken because I was so in love with KFC. When we filmed we had to act out a few scenes of how Catherine was suprised and confused I had turned into a chicken. I had to try my best because I want to be a actress when I grow up and I must have experince to do acting.

Conclusion:

John and Michel are editing our movie togther. I found the acting easy but I didn’t want to do it infront of the whole class cause everyone was staring at us recording. Sooo yeah that’s basically what were up to right now. Were currently filming a scene but I don’t wanna continue spoiling our movie so make sure your looking forward to watching it soon.

Wool and Fabric Scienece

Task Description: At extension a few weeks ago Jennifer from Fisher & Paykel came back to give aus a lesson of wool and different types of fabrics and why some of them may shrink. First she asked anyone if anything has shrunk before after putting in the washing machines. She gave us a cotton ball to use as a example, she told us how if you would put the cotton ball into water it only grow thicker and soon will become heavy and sink into the water. We learnt all about stuff about weaving and how different sizes of whatever your weaving can be different. Two people measured each of the rope that there and then weaving and up and down. Since the big rope more air it was shorter then the other one when weaved. The other one was longer because it was more thin. The bigger one ended up shorter then the thin one afterward. We enjoyed so much of this experine. Learning all about how science and wool and where they come from is so cool to learn about! THANK YOU SO MUCH JENNIFER! Microbit: AI

My friends Catherine, Emzjull, and I trained our Micro:bit using AI to recoognize and learn different moves and actions, including dance steps. We programmed it to detect underarm and overarm throws, and we included cultural dance moves from Myanmar, Tonga, and Niue to celebrate our backgrounds. By repeating the moves while the Micro:bit collected motion data, the AI model learned to recognize the patterns and respond to each action. It was fun and a creative way to combine technology with our cultures through dance.

Microbit Scenarios!!!

Task Description: Last week for extension we paried up with 2 differnet people and shared a slide show to eachother. Mrs Burton gave us different scenarios on what would happen, for eg: if your too hot, if the rubbish bin is full. We used these scenarios to brainstorm how we would use the microbit to tell us to do what and when to drink water, we can also choose how we wanted to wear. My group mostly chose to wear it as a watch. My group and I enjoyed this task, I am super excited to actually use the real microbit. G-Force Research!

Task Description: This term for extension we are learning all about G-force. We paired up with a buddy and made slides all about g-force. We had to find a news article, moive, text, and video. We found the video on youtube and found the rest on Google. My partnar was Jordyn we tried to make sure these vidoes and movies and texts were actually all about G-force. Uranus & Neptune Trading Cards

Task Description: This term for our inquiry task we had to make trading cards of Uranus and Neptune. We had to research facts about the Uranus and Neptune.  These facts are from google, I made sure they were interesting enough for you guys to read. I worked really hard so we hope you enjoy. Information Report – Dwayne Johnson

Task Description: This week for literacy we made a information report about one superstar in Samoa. My person is The Rock, I wrote what he used to do and what he is currently doing, I tried to make my writing as descriptive as much as I could. I took alot of my time to write as many pharagraphs. Partterns and Designs!

Task Description: This week for maths we are recreating samoan patterns. We had to recreate them using shapes, line tool, and different colours. I used colour that I like and tried my best to recreate all the samoan patterns. It took alot of time for me to finish with how unquie the patterns are. I hope you enjoy my slides. Byeee

Washing Machine Science Experiment!

This morning we went to the staffroom and there was a lady named “Jennifer” she is a product development engineer who came from a company called “Fisher & Pykel”!  She has a team of people who create and design washing machines. First she started to ask us questions about what can be put and washed in a washing machine. Some of the things we said were clothes, shoes, toys, and denim. We got to stand up and take a look at the back and top of the washing machine. After that she wanted four volunteers to put 3 cloths in 1 bottle each. She put detergent in 2 bottles. We got into groups of seven, the first group shaked the bottle and the second group tilited the bottle. Jennifer told us that we shouldn’t spin the bottle beacuase it will dry it. Imagine a wet towel spinning the water splash out which dries it, that’s why we should shake it up and down rather then spinning it. She took the one cloth from each one and dried it using a ironer. We had to make sure to only push down, we couldn’t move the iron around because it will make wrinkles causing it to be darker then the rest. Finally when we finsihed drying them we compared the colours to which one was darker and which was the lightest. Once we finsished comparing the colours she told us that is the results when you either tilt it or shake it, using the right ammount of detergent, and also shaking and tilting it for a right time. So that was or science experint we learnt using washing machines. Thank you to Jennifer from Fisher & Paykel for taking time off you day to come teach us about science of a washing machine!
